I was reading about the new set of regulations being enacted i Canada, which call on Canadian companies that offer nanomaterials to provide infomation concerning possible risks tied to these materials. You can read about the Canadian initiative at ctv.ca. Canada is the first country in the world to implement requirements of this kind, but more countries are expected to follow suit.

Does this reflect an increasing acceptance of nanomaterials and a need for true understanding of their biological effects, or is it the government’s answer to growing societal worries concerning these novel materials?
